About the event
From New York to Beijing to Bratislava to Mexico City, the illustrated children’s book has become a vibrant global enterprise. The Rye Free Reading Room and Bird Homestead & Meeting House Conservancy welcome Leonard Marcus as he presents a wide-ranging pictorial tour of the landmark books for children. These titles defined the children’s picture book for over two centuries and influenced the cultural trends and new technologies that have fueled the explosive growth of this deceptively simple art form.
Suggested donation of $30 per person.
This program celebrates Doris Bird's lifelong passion to children's literature and the Bird family's contributions to Rye and the world at large.
